Franziska Brugger

Franziska Brugger graduated from Bishop Grossetest University College (Lincoln) in 2007 with a degree in Education Studies and Music, together with a PGCE qualification.  After 5 years teaching at Robert Kett Junior School in Wymondham as Head of Music, she joined Norwich Lower School in 2012.  Miss Brugger is currently Head of Maths but also enjoys responsibility for a variety of sports teams and supports music within the school.  Her main link to Stretton is through the children that enter the Lower School in Year 3 and through teaching them music in Prep 2 and Prep 3.

John Brydon

John Brydon’s main career was in banking which he left nearly 14 years ago. Since then he has undertaken a number of administration and financial roles in private industry.  For the last 8 years he has been working part time for the Governors of City College, Norwich and additionally and more recently for The City Academy, Norwich.  He hopes that his experience of working for the College and the Academy will enable him to make a full contribution to the smooth running of the school as well as suggesting, where appropriate, best practice.  John is also Head of the school’s Complaints Panel and a Church Warden at Christ Church, Norwich, with whom Stretton School has close links.

Silvana Chrisovelides (Secretary)

Silvana Chrisovelides has a BA (Hons) Degree in Spanish, French and Business Studies from Swansea University.  She worked as a Marketing Manager for an import company and introduced organic produce into Waitrose and Marks & Spencer.  She obtained certification and licensing from the Soil Association to promote organics.  She spent time in Europe and South Africa sourcing products and developing new varieties and ranges.  Her son previously attended Stretton School.   Silvana is the trained Board Member with responsbility for Safeguarding.

Tony Hadlow

Tony Hadlow spent 40 years in food retailing, 32 of which were as a Store Manager.  He worked for the largest employer in North Norfolk, employing over 600 staff serving 50,000 customers per week.  Tony is married to Janella, who is a Human Resources professional, has membership of the CIPD and a Post Graduate Certificate in Employment Law.  As an experienced store manager, Tony had responsibility for training and developing future store management throughout the South East of England.  He was also an Appeals and Grievance Manager, resolving employment disputes to director level.  Since retiring, Tony has started a small gardening business and coaches football and cricket at Aldborough Primary School and the Aylsham Under 13’s Football Team.

Jenny Marchant (Chairperson)

Born in Edinburgh, Jenny Marchant attended George Watson’s Ladies’ College followed by Midhurst Grammar School in Sussex.  After a Gap year spent working in France and Norfolk, she studied English and History of Art at University College, London and then gained a master’s degree in Cultural History at the Warburg Institute.  Her teaching career began with a stint at St George’s School for English and Foreign Languages in London after which she joined the staff of Sarum Hall Preparatory School in Hampstead.  She taught girls from 7 to 11 years and became Deputy Head in her final ten years.  Jenny joined Norwich High School in 1998 as Head of the Junior Department, retiring in July 2010.  She is also on the Board of Governors at All Saints School, Stibbard allowing her to keep abreast of educational developments in the maintained as well as independent sector.

Iain Patterson

Iain Patterson is a qualified teacher, currently teaching Year 2 (Prep 3) at Stretton School.  Prior to teaching, Iain was a Senior Software Designer for Scottish Equitable Plc and Aegon UK.  He has two children who are ex-pupils of the school, and one child currently attending.


Robin Wetherall (Vice Chairperson)

During his career with a major International food company, Robin Wetherall reached a senior management position and department head, procuring raw material supplies from worldwide sources for European production plants.  This involved extensive travelling and negotiations, as well as a deep knowledge of International shipping, export /importation, storage and transportation.  In 1985 he left to take up a position as general manager of a meat company in East Anglia and in 1988 founded his own food export company, supplying products to various parts of the world, including Europe, Caribbean and Russia.  With rapid growth, within 15 years he was the owner of a group of companies and factories throughout the UK, employing 280 persons, with a turnover of £18million.  Robin has taken early retirement to devote more time and energy to his family.  However, he continues to be active with his various interests, including architecture, design and construction.


Anita Barclay

Anita Barclay is Headmistress, taking up the appointment in September 2016 having been Deputy Principal since June 2012.  She is the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead Practitioner.  She has a Diploma from Lucie Clayton Secretarial College and worked at Brunswick Public Relations in London for 10 years.  She has a Foundation Degree for Teaching Assistants and a BA (Hons) Degree in Childhood Studies from the University of East Anglia.  Her three daughters have all attended Stretton School.
